Wisdom Wednesday: Questions and Answers To Help Save Time and Money

  • December 7, 2018

The Stenger, Glass, Hagstrom, Lindars & Iuele LLP legal team recently met to review common questions asked by clients for a presentation we ran. The premise was that had these clients known the answer BEFORE they came to us, they may have saved a considerable amount of time and money. After generating a bank of questions for the seminar, we decided to share this information with a larger audience and so “Wisdom Wednesday” was created.

Visit our Facebook Page each week and try to answer the selected question (don’t forget to like it if you haven’t already). Not to worry if you can’t, we will supply the correct answer here (so bookmark this page). Have questions you would like answered? Email us here. We may not be able to answer all questions, but we will try.

Questions

  1. I just found this great rental unit for my new business, what should I do first?
    1. Negotiate and sign the lease ASAP so I don’t want to lose the deal!
    2. Form a corporate entity to protect myself from personal liability.
    3. Check the zoning code to determine if my business is a permitted use.
    4. Contact my attorney.

Answer: D.  Each of the above answers propose significant legal implications.  You and your business are unique and you should not attempt to use standard forms or represent yourself.  Every situation presents different facts which must be analyzed by you and your attorney before you act to limit your exposure to various potential liabilities.  It is always best to Look before you Leap and make an informed decision.  Failure to discuss matters with your counsel could lead to extremely detrimental effects on not only you but your business as well.  For more information, contact Stenger, Glass, Hagstrom, Lindars & Iuele LLP.  Let us be your Counselors for all legal matters.
